Allen Goodman

Pingree's Potato Patch
Studying the Economics of Detroit

Academic, family man, raconteur and generally nice guy

Allen Goodman is a professor in economics at Wayne State University. He specializes in health and urban economics, and is one of the authors of a very successful textbook on health economics which is in it's 5th edition. On a personal level, Dr. Goodman encouraged me to apply to the doctoral program when I first contacted the department in 2000 to determine whether they accepted part-time students; he basically told me as long as I had the math background I'd have a reasonably good shot at making a go of it, which was good enough for me. He also applied a certain amount of leverage to unstick my dissertation process, for which I am still quite grateful.
