Economist Brad DeLong and journalist Susan Rasky teach a class at UC Berkeley on economics in journalism, and have just posted a set of Twelve Things Journalists Need to Remember to Be Good Economic Reporters and Twelve Things Economists Need to Remember to Be Helpful Journalistic Sources. I'd recommend that almost anybody talking about public policy and economics should read both, as they help identify the pitfalls facing both those trying to explain economic theory and those trying to absorb information from specialists.
